LEPOCOA voice of Peace & Justice - Obituaries of Jefferson Blake Vitelli
How quick quick months of mourning - Muharrum & Safar passed away. Will we get another opportunity next year to do Ashura or Araba’een or visit Karbala, Iraq? Lately, I feel like time is just flying or life is too short or is it just me?
In our busy lives, we rarely explore our backyard. It is not something we think about unless we are having a BBQ party or people come to visit. So, in the next few weeks I am getting my backyard winterized and getting ready for spring blossom by planting some bulbs, flowers, compost & mulching.
The Jewish hypocrisy of Rosh Hashana:
Thursday Sept 14th is the sad day in Shia history due the commemoration of the death of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his grandson Hassan ibne Ali and Imam Reza (as).
While this Friday evening is also Rosh Hashana, the start of the Jewish New Year (5784), a time of divine introspection and Teshuvah, meaning repentance.
It is also the anniversary of the Ku Klux Klan bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, killing four girls: Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley.
It is also about Israel's occupation of the West Bank since 1967 and the 41st anniversary of the massacre at Sabra and Shatila.
How can Israel Defense forces (IDF) demonstrate in the judiciary protest when on this day of repentance and retrospection conduct atrocity (genocide) in a Palestinian refugee camp, this one in Jenin, in the Occupied Territories.
I question the IDF as many of you and/or your parents have been demonstrating but as we approach the Jewish New Year, I ask that you pledge to make peace and leave the IDF.
You sing “Avenu Malkenu” (Our Father, Our King) at the closing service of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), may Lord fill the coming year with goodness.
Think about the future. Will your children continue on this path of hatred and violence?
We must learn from the past Sabra & Shatila) in order to create a better future.

Sayings of Imam Husain (A.S.) to Illuminate Your Mind:
Gandhi: “I learnt from Hussain how to achieve victory while being oppressed,”
Dr. MLK: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere…We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice…the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
Nelson Mandela: “I have spent more than 20 years in prison, then one night I decided to surrender by signing all the terms and conditions of the government. But suddenly I thought about Imam Hussain (as) and the Karbala movement and Imam Hussain (as) gave me strength to stand for the right of freedom and liberation and I did.”

9/11 - 22 Years Later: Will We Ever Get the Truth? Who did it?
Morning of 9/11, then-NYC-mayor Rudy Giuliani provided the answer: “We were told the World Trade Center was going to collapse,” so we moved to an alternate site.
Giuliani’s confession of foreknowledge of the unprecedented and vanishingly improbable “collapse” of the Twin Towers raises the question of why the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11 did not get the same warning.
Watch the film Seven featuring University of Alaska professor Leroy Hulsey, who led a detailed computer simulation of the building’s destruction which according to him was a demolition job.
A Structural Reevaluation of the Collapse of World Trade Center 7.
The principal conclusion of our study is that fire did not cause the collapse of WTC 7 on 9/11, contrary to the conclusions of NIST and private engineering firms that studied the collapse.
The secondary conclusion of our study is that the collapse of WTC 7 was a global failure involving the near-simultaneous failure of every column in the building.
The PBS documentary America Rebuilds, broadcast in 2002, Silverstein confesses to “pulling” – demolishing Building 7.
He later collected roughly three-quarters of a billion dollars in insurance money on that very building, along with four billion for the rest of the World Trade Center.

Niger Overthrows French Neo-colonialism.
Much of West Africa is sick and tired of French neocolonialism and massive exploitation of gold, uranium, and other precious resources.
How could Paris accumulate 2,500 tons of gold when it does not have even a single gold mine, while Mali has over 800 gold mines but only has 881 tons of gold.
Former French President Jacques Chirac had said that “without Africa, France will slide down into the rank of a third [world] power,” echoing the ominous words of his predecessor François Mitterrand that “without Africa, France will have no place in the 21st century.”

Coups or revolution? African nations at a crossroads and throwing off Western colonial shackles.
France laments over losing Africa and critics argue Mr. Macron’s bellyaching represents the pain of the “chickens coming home to roost” after decades of French exploitation and pillaging of Africa and elsewhere.
Landing On The Moon Does Not Whitewash Indian Crimes On Earth
India’s landing a spacecraft on the moon must be lauded. However, there are more than 400 million Indians living in absolute poverty. Another half a billion people defecate in the open in a country that is described as the world’s largest toilet bowl.
India ranks among one of the worst countries in the world for rapes. Hindutva is committing genocide with Nazification of India. World remains Silent! Khamoshi!
The real heart-breaking reality is that most Muslim governments are not only silent in the face of the Muslims’ genocide but have embraced fascist India for economic benefit.
