THEFT OF A NATION
America Did This to Itself - The man elected president is a brazen pathological liar, felon, a con man, a sociopathic criminal, a man who has no moral or social conscience, empathy, or remorse.
ETTORE ‘Ed’ Angelo ESQ is a criminal lawyer who advocates reforming the justice system1. He frequently attends commission meetings and speaks about justice inequities in the legal system.
Ed DISCLAIMER For the record. I hereby attest that the Theft of a Nation essay below is my writing, unassisted by no one else. ... opinions expressed are strictly my own and solely belong to me. and do not reflect or intended to malign any religion, nor deny the historical event.
Before I became his attorney, my client had unfairly spent two days in Lehigh County Jail for not returning a rented tool, a charge ultimately dismissed. That injustice reminded me of a speech given by the great labor champion, the indomitable Mother Jones:
“I asked a man in prison how he happened to be there, and he said he had stolen a pair of shoes. I told him if he had stolen a railroad, he would be a United States Senator.”
Well, in a few days a man who tried to steal an entire nation will return to the White House, even after inciting thugs to assault and kill police officers, to desecrate the nation’s house, to defecate in its rooms—all transpiring as he watched on television, ignoring pleas, even from his children, to stop the violence.
Your vote rewarded the thief with precisely what he sought to steal.
He now calls that deeply disturbing event “a day of love.”
Your vote shouted loudly: character counts for nothing.
You nullified a jury’s verdict of 34 felony convictions for his adulterous affair with a porn star—his scheme of cheating to win an election.
You voted for a man who admitted grabbing women by their genitalia. Daughters, wives, sisters, and mothers--women loved and revered. You might have punched him out had he done that to any woman you love. Instead, you voted for him to be President of the United States of America.
You completely ignored character.
You discounted how he denigrated John McCain and other Americans who fought or died in uniform, calling them “suckers” and “losers,” even desecrating their gravesites with his appalling words.
Your vote diminished the character it takes to run into a hail of bullets for your country.
Valor is foreign to this man. Standing before the CIA Memorial Wall--which honors unidentified agents who died in service to the country--he launched into what a Senior CIA Official called “a free-wheeling, narcissistic diatribe,” explaining to stunned listeners," Trust me, I’m like a smart person.”
You voted for a six-time draft dodger, who said that STD’s, sexually transmitted diseases, “was my personal Vietnam.” He called the promiscuous circles he floated in a “dangerous world out there,” anointing himself as a “great and very brave soldier.” For waging war against what? Syphilis and gonorrhea, apparently.

You voted for a narcissist constantly bragging, who never apologizes for anything, and said he did not ever need God’s forgiveness. Your vote granted him absolution.
Here’s the truth you won’t get from your news sources: you voted for a violent insurrectionist, now protected by a rogue Supreme Court, shielded by a veritable army of spineless politicians, worshiped by millions of entranced Americans, and even sanctified by some religious leaders as a messenger and ambassador of none other than Jesus Christ Himself. Forgive me, Lord.
Many of you were heard to say things like, “I don’t care for his behavior” or “the things he says” or “how he treats woman.” Then you uttered the one word that has toppled civilizations, rationalized the Holocaust, justified slavery, and legalized extermination of indigenous people—the tiny word that washes away unspeakable sins, then and now:
“But”
Yes, he’s horrible in many ways, “but” we have to stop these immigrants from eating our dogs. Character, be dammed!
I don’t like how he disrespects the right to decide what happens to my body, said white suburban women, “but” he’s going to keep those tax cuts coming.
Sure, his tax scam will enrich the already obscenely wealthy and hurt the elderly, poor children, and the “least among us,” many from the pulpit bellowed, “but” maybe we’ll get us yet another “pro-life” Supreme Court pick.
Character? Does it mean anything? Your vote answered with an emphatic “no”.
The ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, said, “Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” That applies to nations too.
When I think of character, I picture those young men who stormed the beaches on D-Day and never got to live a life. I think of John McCain, having spent five years tortured as a POW in the hell of the dreaded Hanoi Hilton”, yet refused early release, insisting that release be granted first to others who had been there even longer.
Or the courage of Martin Luther King, Jr., on the footpath, no secret service agents, fighting for justice, knowing that hate had a bullet in the chamber for him at any given moment.
And I think of President Carter who lived by this standard: “I try to have two loves in my heart: one love is for God and the other love is for the person who happens to be in front of me.”
You voted for someone who sees only himself staring back in the mirror, bitterly complaining recently that the flag will be at half-staff on his special day. “Nobody wants to see this,” he said in a social media tantrum.
Zero character—that’s what you voted for.
